Export Data to Excel – Unblocking your way to Success

Most of us our familiar with the following warning message when exporting a grid view to Excel.

If you select the make available for re-import option you will likely get presented with a totally different warning message.

This less common but exceedingly more frustrating  message will appear as follows when you try to open up the file after saving it to your local hard drive.

If you click OK you then get presented with a blank Excel (blue shading, no grid) screen. And of course the information wasn’t helpful because no solution was presented, not even a clue.

The solution is to open up Windows Explorer, browse to the XML file, right click, select Properties and then on the Properties Dialog Window select Unblock, and then OK. Then give it  go again with Excel and you should be good to go.
